imagine what the staff at rolling stone is doing right now tho.
this is some of the most inane shit I have heard in a very long time
being “hella privileged” relative to the other characters does not mean Garrus is coded as white. making naive bigoted comments does not mean Garrus is coded as white. first of all, there is an entire world of intra-racial fuckshit that goes on in and between POC groups. second of all, imposing a real world western-centric model of human race relations on fictional alien species who have entirely different (and extremely complicated) histories and racial dynamics, who don’t even operate under the same kinds of structures of privilege and oppression (which species is coded as black in this scenario? bc anti-blackness is the fulcrum of white supremacy) is some fucking bullshit i refuse to even entertain.
furthermore all of this is ignoring the entire fucking context of the conversation in which humanized aliens was brought up in the first goddamn place, which is fandom’s continued boner for portraying every single alien crewmember as white, in fan art and fan casts, whether it makes sense for their species or not (and it never actually does make sense)
the fact that Garrus is continually drawn and fancast as white has fuck all to do with how he OR turians are allegedly racialized (turians, who BTW live in a deeply collectivist society that brings to mind many Confucianist values, and who sometimes adopt Buddhism because it meshes so well with their cultural beliefs)
the reason that fans do this is because of a white supremacist mindset that considers “white” the default setting for “human”, it does not even occur to some of them to make brown humans, and they literally cannot conceive of a story where white heroes are in the minority. and they do this to Garrus specifically because he is seen as sexy and cool and a popular love interest for Shepard, who is also always white to these people.
I enjoy being a tease very much forgive me lord for I have sinned
People’s laughs are seriously among the most annoying sounds in the world sometimes, especially when you’re trying to study.
"oh no thanks i’m not gonna eat that" just means i’ll eat it later on when you aren’t looking so i don’t feel bad about myself
Police in Colorado say that an Aurora man will not be charged after he admitted pulling his gun on a woman with four children — including a disabled child — because she was taking too long to park her car.
Shakia Bushtold KMGH-TVthat she was waiting for a handicap parking space at a local Walmart recently and a man behind her started honking his horn.
When she got out to tell him to go around because she was waiting for the handicap space, she said that he started yelling obscenities and pulled out a gun.
“He showed it to me in the air, then held it to his chest and said, ‘B****, I have a gun. I will shoot your a**,’” she recalled. “My 10-year old son was saying ‘Mommy, he’s going to shoot you. I don’t want him to shoot you.’”
Bush said that she screamed that the man was “pulling a gun on a woman” before writing down his license plate number and calling 911.
“That’s when he got back into his car and took off,” she said.
Police identified the suspect as Justin West. But in an interview, he insisted that he had pulled the gun because he thought “people were going to jump out and attack him.”
According to his version of events, he told Bush, “I have a gun and will defend myself.”
“What was he defending himself from?” Bush wondered. “A mom and four kids? He was angry over a traffic incident. He hopped out of his car first and started yelling and screaming at me.”
“I think he felt a woman was talking back to him, so he needs to prove a point,” she said
Aurora police explained to KMGH-TV that West could not be charged because no gun could clearly be seen in the Walmart surveillance video.
“I really feel that people need to be held accountable for their actions,” Bush lamented. “My children were scared that something was going to happen to them.”
Former Denver prosecutor Karen Steinhauser told KMGH-TV that West could be charged for felony menacing for just holding a gun up to his chest and issuing threats.
“It’s menacing if your intent was to put someone in fear of their life,” she pointed out. “The question investigators have to ask is, ‘Was he in fear of imminent harm?’”
The mother and her children witness this man pull a gun on them in a parking lot. He admits he pulls a gun on them in said parking lot…and yet law enforcement doesn’t have enough to charge with? Color me skeptical.
I fucking hate men oh my god.
the nerve of israelis, “caring” about violence against women
when meanwhile, just a stone’s throw away, israel is ruining the lives of countless palestinian women
but i guess they’re not actually considered “women.” they gotta consider you as a human first
